Curriculum

Kummooyeh – Cutting:

  • Cutting demands precision, focus and co-ordination to succeed. It is an opportunity to test your techniques with a real blade and a target that will expose your ability, (for better or for worse).

Kummooyeh – Sparring

  • Sparring is a combat exercise that draws upon all of your training. With only moments to react against an attacking opponent, your sword techniques must be precise and swift , your body balanced and strong and your mind clear and brave.

Kummooyeh – Archery

  • Archery is an exercise in focus and ritual. Only using traditional Korean horse-bows, it’s up to the practitioner to master a perfectly consistent shot cycle and a razer honed focus to control an arrow in flight

Kummooyeh – Patterns

  • A sword pattern is a choreographed sequence of stepping and sword movements. Not only does this exercise give flow and context to the various techniques in the style, it’s a personal exercise in perfection. From the weight distribution on your feet, to the tightness of your fingers, these multiple details cultivate a heightened awareness of your body, and focus to your mind.

Kummooyeh – Meditation

  • Meditation is a personal exploration for emptying cluttered thoughts, bodily and spatial awareness. While this is practiced is almost all parts of the curriculum, Kummooyeh dedicates special attention to honing these skills with a moving meditation
